How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Aircraft Mechanical Instructor (B1)

    Location: South West England with some regional travel
    Salary: £49,000 - £55,000 per annum
    Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

    If you've got solid hands-on aircraft maintenance experience and enjoy helping others learn, this could be your next role...

    Boston Rose are recruiting on behalf of a well-established aviation training provider looking to expand its team with 2-3 Aircraft Mechanical Instructors (B1). You'll be delivering practical and classroom-based training to adult learners and apprentices studying UKCAA-regulated aircraft maintenance programmes.

    No previous teaching experience? That's absolutely fine. If you've mentored apprentices, delivered toolbox talks or simply enjoy passing on your knowledge, we'd love to hear from you.

    The Role

    You'll deliver a range of core aircraft mechanical subjects, including:

    * Landing gear systems

    * Hydraulic systems

    * Aircraft mechanical fundamentals

    * Practical workshop activities

    * Classroom-based technical sessions

    Working hours are typically Monday to Friday 8:30am-4:00pm, with 6 teaching-hours per day.

    What We're Looking For

    We're keen to speak with people who have:

    * B1 mechanical aircraft maintenance experience

    * Strong practical workshop skills

    * Experience working on fixed-wing aircraft or rotary aircraft, or both!

    * A genuine interest in developing the next generation of aircraft engineers

    The following are desirable but not essential:

    * Teaching, training or instructing experience

    * Assessor or teaching qualification

    * UKCAA or EASA licence

    We're particularly interested in applications from:

    * Mechanical-bias Aircraft Engineers looking to move out of industry

    * Overseas candidates eligible for Skilled Worker sponsorship

    * Candidates relocating within the UK

    * Ex-military aircraft engineers

    What's on Offer

    * £49,000-£55,000 salary

    * Skilled Worker visa sponsorship available (subject to eligibility)

    * Training and support to become an instructor

    * Opportunity to work with both overseas and UK-based apprentices and adult learners

    * Excellent long-term career stability

    * Join the highest-paying employer in non-type aircraft maintenance training

    Interview Process

    Initial Microsoft Teams interview followed by a formal interview including a short micro-teach at a later date.

    Don't worry if you've never taught before. The micro-teach is simply an opportunity to demonstrate how you'd explain an aircraft engineering topic to a non-technical audience.

    If you're ready to step away from the tools without leaving the industry behind, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today or contact Boston Rose for a confidential discussion - (phone number removed) (ask for Leah)
