How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Take ownership of an established, high-performing desk with genuine earning potential.

    We're looking for an ambitious Business Development Manager to join our successful team at Howett Thorpe.

    This is a rare opportunity created by a long-standing member of the team relocating to Australia. Rather than building from scratch, you'll inherit a well-established temporary and interim recruitment desk with loyal clients, a strong reputation and significant opportunities for further growth.

    The Opportunity

    You'll take ownership of an established portfolio while driving continued growth through business development and exceptional client service.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    * Building strong relationships with an existing portfolio of loyal clients.

    * Identifying and winning new business opportunities across your market.

    * Growing and developing your client base through a proactive, structured approach.

    * Generating opportunities through a combination of warm leads, referrals and targeted new business activity.

    * Working closely with candidates and clients to deliver an outstanding recruitment service.

    About You

    We're looking for someone who is commercially driven, enjoys developing relationships and has the confidence to create new business opportunities. You'll ideally have:

    * A proven track record in recruitment, business development or a consultative sales role.

    * Experience within a service-led industry, although other sales backgrounds will also be considered.

    * Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

    * A positive, resilient approach and the motivation to exceed targets.

    * The ambition to develop your career within a growing independent business.
