How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Company

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Public Health Engineer to join the Birmingham office of a well-established, privately owned multi-disciplinary consultancy delivering integrated technical, engineering and development consultancy services across the UK.

The business provides a holistic approach to project delivery, bringing together expertise from multiple disciplines to support clients throughout the full development lifecycle. Working closely with developers, infrastructure providers, local authorities and private sector clients, they deliver coordinated solutions across major development and infrastructure schemes from initial concept and planning through to detailed design, construction and handover.

Their Building Services team specialises in delivering innovative and energy-focused Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health engineering solutions across a wide range of sectors, including residential, commercial, education, industrial, regeneration and mixed-use developments. The Birmingham office forms part of a wider multidisciplinary team, working collaboratively with engineers, technicians and consultants to deliver complex projects across the UK.

As a privately owned consultancy, they offer the flexibility, autonomy and support often associated with an independent business, whilst providing the opportunity to work on high-profile developments alongside leading developers and infrastructure clients. With continued growth across multiple sectors, this provides an excellent opportunity for a Public Health Engineer looking to develop their career within a forward-thinking consultancy.

    The Role

As a Public Health Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality public health engineering designs across a variety of building services projects. Working closely with Mechanical and Electrical engineers, architects, contractors and wider design teams, you will produce coordinated solutions from concept through to completion.

The successful candidate will have strong experience in public health design and be confident using Revit to produce coordinated 3D models and detailed drawings. You will contribute to the delivery of technically compliant, efficient and buildable solutions across a range of complex developments.

    Responsibilities

Deliver public health engineering designs across a range of building services projects.
Produce detailed public health models and drawings using Revit.
Develop coordinated 3D BIM models throughout all project stages.
Design public health systems including domestic water services, drainage systems and plumbing installations.
Work collaboratively with Mechanical and Electrical engineers to deliver fully coordinated MEP solutions.
Liaise with architects, contractors, clients and other consultants throughout project delivery.
Undertake design coordination and clash detection using Revit and Navisworks.
Assist with the preparation of technical reports, specifications and design documentation.
Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, regulations and project requirements.
Support projects from concept design through to construction and handover.
    Requirements

Previous experience working as a Public Health Engineer within a Building Services or MEP consultancy environment.
Strong experience designing public health systems across commercial, residential or mixed-use developments.
Proficient user of Revit with experience producing public health models and coordinated drawings.
Good understanding of BIM processes and collaborative design workflows.
Experience using Navisworks for coordination and clash detection would be advantageous.
Strong technical knowledge of public health engineering principles and standards.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
    What's on Offer

Join an established multi-disciplinary consultancy delivering integrated engineering and development services across the UK.
Opportunity to work on major development and infrastructure projects alongside leading clients.
Exposure to a varied portfolio of residential, commercial, education, industrial and regeneration schemes.
Work within a collaborative Birmingham office alongside experienced engineers, technicians and consultants.
    Hybrid and flexible working arrangements.
Clear progression opportunities within a growing consultancy.
Support towards professional development, training and CPD.
A culture built around autonomy, trust and encouraging employees to make an impact.
Long-term career stability with a strong pipeline of secured projects.
