How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Salary: £54,360 - £61,686 (Dependent on Experience)

Senior Quantity Surveyor Opportunity - Housing Repairs & Asset Management
Are you an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking to take the lead on major housing repairs and maintenance programmes?
We are recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established London local authority, playing a key role in the commercial management of planned maintenance, refurbishment and housing investment programmes valued at up to £12 million.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking Asset Management team where you'll have the autonomy to lead commercial decisions, manage contracts from procurement through to final account, and mentor a team of Quantity Surveyors.

    The Role
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will provide expert commercial advice across a wide range of housing repairs and planned maintenance projects, ensuring works are delivered efficiently, within budget and provide excellent value for money.
Working closely with senior management, contractors and consultants, you'll support the delivery of high-quality housing services while contributing to the Council's long-term asset investment strategy.

    Key Responsibilities
·Lead all quantity surveying activities across housing repairs, refurbishment and planned maintenance programmes.
·Manage commercial delivery of projects with budgets of up to £12 million.
·Prepare cost plans, pricing documentation and budget forecasts.
·Manage valuations, variations, compensation events and final accounts.
·Produce tender documentation, evaluate submissions and prepare recommendations.
·Lead value engineering exercises and identify opportunities to maximise value for money.
·Manage consultants, contractors and external suppliers throughout project delivery.
·Support leaseholder cost recovery processes, estimates and final accounts.
·Monitor commercial performance and ensure effective cost control across contracts.
·Carry out site visits to verify completed works and ensure valuation accuracy.
·Lead, mentor and develop a team of Quantity Surveyors.
·Contribute to long-term asset management and capital investment planning.

    About You
We're looking for an experienced commercial professional with a strong background in housing, repairs, maintenance or property asset management.

    You'll ideally have:
·Significant experience as a Quantity Surveyor within housing, repairs, planned maintenance or refurbishment.
·Strong knowledge of commercial management, cost planning and budget control.
·Experience administering contracts, valuations, variations and final accounts.
·Knowledge of public sector procurement and contract management.
·Experience managing contractors, consultants and supply chain partners.
·Strong understanding of value engineering and commercial risk management.
·Previous experience leading or mentoring commercial teams.
·Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
·Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
·MRICS or working towards chartership is desirable but not essential.

    What's on Offer
    ·Salary of £54,360 - £61,686, depending on experience.
·Hybrid working with 2 days per week working from home.
·Opportunity to lead commercial delivery across a £12 million housing investment programme.
·Leadership responsibilities, including management of a small Quantity Surveying team.
·Excellent pension scheme and local government benefits.
·Ongoing professional development and career progression opportunities.
·The chance to make a genuine impact on the delivery of high-quality housing services across London.

If you're an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor looking for your next challenge within housing repairs and asset management, we'd love to hear from you.
