The Role
As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you'll be responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of critical production machinery within a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
Working as part of a skilled engineering team, you'll carry out both planned and reactive maintenance while driving continuous improvement across the site.
Your responsibilities will include:
Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
Responding to mechanical breakdowns and reactive maintenance
Diagnosing and repairing faults to minimise downtime
Completing shift handovers and maintenance reports
Identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives
Maintaining high standards of health, safety, and housekeeping
You'll be working on a wide range of large capital equipment including:
Conveyors
Overhead cranes
Hydraulic and mechanical presses
Heat treatment equipment
Vacuum systems
Heavy industrial production machinery
Full training will be provided on the site's bespoke machinery through structured development plans and manufacturer (OEM) training.
About You
To be successful, you'll ideally have:
Experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Technician, Mechanical Fitter or Multi-Skilled Engineer with a strong mechanical bias
Experience within manufacturing, heavy industry, steel, foundry, FMCG, recycling, aggregates, automotive or similar industrial environments
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
A proactive approach to maintenance and continuous improvement
A commitment to health and safety
A recognised engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, Apprenticeship or equivalent) is desirable
