How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Vision for Education is currently recruiting a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to work within a welcoming specialist school in Chelmsford. This is a fantastic opportunity to support children and young people with a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), helping them to achieve their full potential in a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

    The Role

As an SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the wider support team to provide tailored support to pupils with additional needs. You may work on a one-to-one basis or with small groups, adapting learning activities to meet individual needs while encouraging independence and promoting positive behaviour.

The school supports pupils with a range of needs, including:

    Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD)
Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
    Complex learning needs

    The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

Has experience working with children or young people with SEND in a school, care, youth work or similar setting
    Is patient, compassionate and resilient
Can build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and families
Has excellent communication and teamwork skills
Is committed to helping every child reach their full potential
A Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential. We welcome applicants with transferable skills and a genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs.

    What Vision for Education Offers

As a valued employee of Vision for Education, you will receive:

Excellent daily rates paid using the PAYE system (no umbrella companies)
Guaranteed pay scheme (subject to availability)
    Social and networking events
    Pension contributions
CPD to help with your professional development
    Access to a dedicated consultant

    Requirements

To be considered for the role of SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:

Have experience of working with children or young people with SEND
Have, or be willing to obtain, an enhanced DBS check registered to the Update Service
Be able to provide references covering the last two years
Be willing to complete our National Teaching Assistant Programme (NTAP) if you do not already hold a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification

    How to Apply

If you're passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children and young people with SEND, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply today to join Vision for Education and take the next step in your career supporting children with SEND.
