How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

This post is exempt under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010 and is only open to female applicants.

Derbyshire WISH is looking for a compassionate, resilient and motivated Domestic Abuse Support Worker to join our specialist team supporting women and families affected by domestic abuse.

This rewarding role offers the opportunity to work across both refuge accommodation and community outreach services, providing trauma-informed support to survivors of domestic abuse. The role will primarily be based in South Derbyshire, supporting women to achieve greater safety, independence and wellbeing.

If you are passionate about supporting vulnerable people, promoting recovery and empowering survivors to rebuild their lives, we'd love to hear from you.

    The Role

As a Domestic Abuse Support Worker, you will provide practical, emotional and person-centred support to survivors and families experiencing or recovering from domestic abuse. Working within both refuge and community settings, you will manage a caseload, complete risk assessments and deliver tailored support plans that promote safety, confidence and long-term independence.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Provide one-to-one emotional and practical support to people affected by domestic abuse.

    * Manage a caseload and develop personalised support plans, safety plans and risk assessments.

    * Deliver trauma-informed, strengths-based support that empowers survivors to achieve their goals.

    * Support people living in refuge accommodation and those accessing community-based outreach services.

    * Facilitate wellbeing activities, group support sessions and recovery-focused interventions.

    * Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners, advocating for survivors and promoting safeguarding.

    * Signpost and refer to specialist services including housing, health, legal and financial support.

    * Maintain accurate and up-to-date records using case management systems.

    * Contribute to maintaining a safe, welcoming and supportive environment for all.

    * Support safeguarding practices for both adults and children and respond appropriately to risks and concerns.

    * Participate in a rota that may include occasional evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

    About You

We are looking for a dedicated and empathetic individual who has experience working with vulnerable people and understands the impact domestic abuse can have on individuals and families.

    Essential Skills and Experience

    * Experience providing support to vulnerable individuals, ideally within domestic abuse, housing, safeguarding, social care, mental health or related services.

    * Knowledge of domestic abuse, coercive control, trauma-informed practice and safeguarding principles.

    * Ability to build positive, professional relationships and communicate with empathy and respect.

    * Experience managing confidential information and maintaining accurate records.

    * Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and case management systems.

    * Ability to work independently whilst contributing positively to a team environment.

    * Resilience and confidence when supporting individuals.

    Additional Requirements

    * Full UK driving licence.

    * Access to a vehicle insured for business use.

    * Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends and bank holidays as required.

    Why Join Derbyshire WISH?
