If you're the person who keeps a team of field engineers moving, knows how to juggle changing priorities without dropping the ball, and genuinely enjoys bringing order to a fast-paced operation, this could be exactly what you're looking for.
We're recruiting on behalf of a rapidly growing engineering business looking to appoint an experienced Engineering Resource Planner to become the backbone of their national service operation.
This isn't a customer service role.
We're looking for someone who has solid experience scheduling engineers across multiple locations, understands geographical planning, and can confidently manage a busy workload where priorities can change by the hour.
You'll be coordinating a nationwide team of 20+ engineers, ensuring they are deployed efficiently while also taking ownership of fleet compliance, training records and operational processes.
Around 60% of your role will focus on engineer scheduling, making this the key requirement. The remaining time will involve compliance, systems administration and continuous improvement projects, making it a varied and highly influential position.
The Role
You'll be responsible for:
Planning and coordinating the diaries of a national team of engineers
Maximising engineer utilisation whilst responding to reactive call-outs and planned work
Managing fleet administration including MOTs, servicing, road compliance and vehicle records
Owning engineer training matrices, ensuring qualifications and certifications remain current
Supporting ISO 9001 compliance and maintaining accurate operational documentation
Producing reports, analysing data and improving internal processes
Working with modern systems, spreadsheets and operational software to improve efficiency
Building strong relationships with engineers, suppliers and internal teams to keep everything running smoothly
About You
You'll already have experience in a role where engineer scheduling has been a major part of your day.
You'll also have:
Significant experience scheduling field engineers or service technicians
Excellent geographical knowledge and route planning ability
Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail
Experience managing fleet administration and compliance
Confidence maintaining training records and compliance documentation
Good knowledge of ISO 9001 or similar quality management processes
Advanced IT skills and confidence using spreadsheets and operational systems
A proactive mindset with the ability to stay calm under pressure and continually reprioritise
Experience within engineering, plant hire, HVAC, utilities, construction, facilities management or another field service environment would be highly advantageous.
What's on Offer
