How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced Director-level Quantity Surveyor to join a highly respected global consultancy during an exciting period of sustained growth across the North West.

This is a strategic leadership appointment within a business delivering some of the UK's most complex infrastructure, energy, utilities, nuclear and industrial programmes. With an established client base, a strong pipeline of secured work and continued investment across the region, you'll play a key role in shaping both project delivery and the future growth of the business.

Unlike many senior roles, you'll remain close to delivery, leading high-profile commissions while developing client relationships, mentoring teams and driving regional growth.

    About the Business

This independent consultancy is recognised for delivering high-quality commercial, project management and advisory services across major capital programmes. Their reputation has been built on technical excellence, collaborative working and long-term client partnerships within highly regulated sectors.

Projects are Director-led, meaning senior leaders remain actively involved throughout the project lifecycle, providing clients with experienced commercial advice while supporting and developing the teams around them.

    Their portfolio spans:

    Nuclear

    Energy

    Utilities

    Infrastructure

    Process & Industrial

    Major Capital Programmes

    Civil Engineering

    The Role

As Director, you'll take ownership of major commissions while helping shape the strategic direction of the North West business.

Working alongside senior leadership, you'll develop existing client relationships, identify new opportunities, support business development and lead multidisciplinary commercial teams delivering complex projects under NEC contracts.

This role offers the opportunity to influence both regional growth and the wider business while remaining involved in technically challenging projects.

    Key Responsibilities

Lead the successful delivery of major quantity surveying and commercial management commissions

Build and strengthen relationships with key infrastructure, utilities, energy and nuclear clients

Drive business development and secure new opportunities

Support the growth strategy of the North West business

    Mentor and develop commercial teams

Oversee commercial performance, fee management and profitability

Provide expert commercial advice across NEC3 and NEC4 contracts

Ensure high standards of governance, risk management and project delivery

Contribute to business planning and long-term strategic growth

    About You

You'll be an established commercial leader with consultancy experience across infrastructure, energy or other major capital projects.

    You'll ideally have:

Significant Quantity Surveying and commercial management experience

Experience operating at Associate Director or Director level

Strong client relationship and business development skills

A background within infrastructure, utilities, energy, nuclear, industrial or process sectors

    Excellent NEC3/NEC4 contract knowledge

    MRICS (preferred)

Experience leading and developing high-performing teams

A collaborative leadership style with strong commercial awareness

    Why Join?

This is an opportunity to join a business where Directors genuinely influence projects, clients and the future direction of the company.

    You'll benefit from:

A genuine leadership role within a growing North West business

Director-led delivery across nationally significant infrastructure and energy programmes

Long-term client relationships and secured project pipeline

The opportunity to shape regional growth and strategy

A collaborative, entrepreneurial culture with minimal bureaucracy

Clear progression within an expanding global consultancy

Ongoing investment in leadership and professional development

This is a rare opportunity for an ambitious Quantity Surveying Director to join a consultancy where you'll have real influence, work on industry-leading projects and help drive the next phase of regional growth
