How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Senior Mechanical Engineer – Building Services

    The Role

    As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you'll play a key role in the design and delivery of mechanical building services projects across a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments. You'll take ownership of projects from concept through to completion, working closely with clients, architects, and multidisciplinary design teams to deliver innovative, sustainable, and practical engineering solutions.

    Responsibilities

    Lead the mechanical building services design and delivery of projects across the residential, commercial, and mixed-use sectors.
    Manage projects through all RIBA stages, from feasibility and concept design through to construction.
    Design and specify HVAC, heating, cooling, ventilation, domestic water services, and other mechanical building services systems.
    Produce and review technical calculations, specifications, reports, and detailed design drawings.
    Liaise with clients, architects, contractors, and fellow MEP engineers throughout project delivery.
    Mentor and support Graduate and Intermediate Engineers, providing technical guidance and development.
    Carry out site visits, surveys, and inspections to monitor project progress and ensure design compliance.
    Ensure all designs comply with current UK Building Regulations, CIBSE guidance, and industry best practice.About You

    Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
    Significant experience working within a building services consultancy.
    Proven experience delivering mechanical building services designs across residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments.
    Strong technical knowledge of HVAC and mechanical building services design, alongside UK Building Regulations and CIBSE guidance.
    Proficient in industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Revit, IES VE, Hevacomp, or similar design packages.
    Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
    Chartered Engineer status, or working towards Chartership (MCIBSE or equivalent), is desirable.
    A collaborative approach with a passion for mentoring junior engineers and delivering high-quality engineering solutions.What's on Offer
