How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Our client, a globally recognised luxury yacht builder renowned for producing some of the finest bluewater sailing yachts, is currently seeking a Lead Technician (Marine Engineer) to join their team in Barcelona, Spain. With a heritage spanning decades, they combine innovative design, precision engineering, and traditional craftsmanship to create vessels capable of crossing oceans in safety, comfort, and style.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Delivering service and repair projects safely, efficiently, and to agreed deadlines
    Servicing and repairing marine steering systems, including rudder removal, rudder bearing replacement, and steering system servicing
    Carrying out propulsion system work, including removal of propeller shafts, servicing propellers, replacing cutlass bearings, shaft seals, thrust bearings, and flexible bearings
    Completing mechanical refit projects, including engine room refits, engine replacements, and marine engine servicing
    Servicing and replacing seacocks, pumps, and other onboard plumbing systems
    Producing accurate technical reports and maintaining clear communication with customers and internal stakeholders
    Maintaining organised work schedules and ensuring high standards of workmanship
    Supporting a safe working environment and maintaining a clean, professional workspace
    Collaborating with the wider service team to ensure customer satisfaction and successful project delivery

    Job Requirements:

    Strong marine engineering knowledge across steering, propulsion, mechanical, and plumbing systems
    Experience within the marine engineering sector
    Fluent written and spoken English and Spanish
    Excellent communication and organisational skills
    Proactive and self-motivated with a strong work ethic
    Comfortable working under pressure and managing deadlines
    Logical and resilient problem solver with strong attention to detail
    Quality-focused with pride in delivering exceptional workmanship
    Team player with a flexible and positive attitude

    Desirable Qualifications & Experience:

    Experience in fabrication and machining
    GRP repair experience
    Full driving licence
    Must have the existing right to work in Spain/EU. Unfortunately, visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
