How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Our client, a leading engineering organisation delivering critical infrastructure projects, is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer for a nuclear project. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the design, development and delivery of sophisticated industrial control systems within a highly regulated environment.

If you have strong Rockwell ControlLogix expertise, experience developing PLC solutions and enjoy working on technically challenging projects where quality, safety and reliability are paramount, we'd love to hear from you.

    The Opportunity

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will take ownership of the technical delivery of PLC-based control systems, supporting projects from design through to testing, deployment and commissioning. Working alongside Project Managers, Lead Engineers and multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will help deliver robust, high-integrity automation solutions for critical infrastructure applications.

This role combines hands-on PLC engineering with extensive technical documentation responsibilities, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both delivering technical solutions and maintaining the rigorous standards required within regulated industries.

    Key Responsibilities

Lead the technical delivery of PLC control systems throughout the project lifecycle.
Design, develop and implement automation solutions using Rockwell ControlLogix and Studio 5000 Logix Designer.
Integrate control systems with third-party equipment using standard industrial communication protocols.
Support system architecture development, including redundancy, resilience and cybersecurity considerations.
Produce and maintain high-quality engineering documentation, including:
    Functional and design specifications
    Test documentation and procedures
    Operating and maintenance manuals
    Technical updates and change documentation
Deploy, configure and test PLC systems as part of ongoing development programmes.
Support and participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Customer Acceptance Testing (CAT) and system integration activities.
Contribute to project planning, progress reporting and risk management activities.
Collaborate closely with engineering teams and stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and to the required quality standards.
Promote a strong health and safety culture through leadership and best practice.

    What We're Looking For

    Essential

Minimum 5 years' experience within industrial automation and control systems.
    Strong experience with:
    Rockwell ControlLogix PLCs
    Studio 5000 Logix Designer
Proven track record of designing, implementing and testing PLC solutions within industrial environments.
Strong understanding of PLC system design principles and implementation methodologies.
Experience producing, maintaining and managing large-scale engineering documentation.
Good understanding of the software and systems development lifecycle, including design, development, testing and deployment.
Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
Previous experience within nuclear, defence, energy or other highly regulated industries.

    Qualifications

Degree, HND or HNC in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Automation Engineering or a related discipline.
Equivalent industry experience will also be considered
