How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Engineering Manager

    Location: Wakefield , West Yorkshire (with National Travel)

    Employment type: Full Time, Permanent 

    Working Hours: (Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, 8.30am to 5pm)

    About the role… 

    We have fantastic opportunity to join our Private Networks Division as an Engineering Manager

    You will be results-driven with extensive experience leading high-performing engineering teams in fast-paced technical environments. Proven ability to drive operational excellence, champion health and safety, and deliver complex engineering projects to the highest quality standards.

    Strong background in HV/LV systems, technical leadership, resource planning, and customer-focused project delivery, with a track record of improving team performance, maximising utilisation, and supporting business growth. Recognised for developing engineering talent, solving complex technical challenges, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and building lasting relationships with customers and stakeholders through collaborative leadership and clear communication.

    As a Engineering Manager  you will …

    Lead and develop a team of engineers within the Private Networks business.

    Take overall responsibility for health and safety compliance and promote a strong safety culture.

    Ensure high-quality technical delivery across projects and services.

    Support the sales team by providing technical expertise and helping define the right customer solutions.

    Work closely with Operations, Project Management, and Service teams to ensure sufficient skilled resources and maximise utilisation.

    Improve engineering processes through lessons learned and continuous improvement.

    Build strong customer relationships and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.

    About you… 

    Engineering qualification (ONC, HNC, or equivalent).

    IOSH, NEBOSH, or equivalent health and safety qualification.

    Experience in a technical engineering environment.

    Strong knowledge of HV and LV electrical systems.

    Experience leading and developing engineering teams.

    Ability to provide technical guidance and solve complex engineering problems.

    Experience managing resources in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

    Health & Safety achievements (IOSH/NEBOSH, audits, safe systems of work, zero incidents).
