How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Academics are looking for enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTA) to provide vital classroom support across EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2.

    Our flexible opportunities are perfect for an experienced HLTA or a highly skilled Teaching Assistant who is ready to take on more responsibility in a variety of rewarding environments. They can also be great for ambitious Early Career Teachers (ECT) who are looking to improve and adapt their classroom skills before stepping into a more permanent teaching post.

    Responsibilities of a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

    Delivering lessons and supervising classes in the absence of the teacher.
    Supporting pupils both in the classroom and through small-group interventions.
    Working alongside teaching staff to help raise achievement and engagement.
    Encouraging confidence, independence, and positive behaviour.
    Helping to create an inclusive learning environment where every pupil can succeed.The ideal applicant must:

    Hold a relevant HLTA qualification or have equivalent experience.
    Have proven experience in a similar school-based role.
    Hold up-to-date knowledge of the current primary curriculum.
    Have an enthusiastic approach to professional development and a desire to take on increased responsibility.
    Be confident leading and covering classes when required and support learning across all key stages.
    Have strong communication and behaviour management skills; able to build strong relationships with pupils and staff.
    Be adaptable, proactive and passionate.
    Be happy to travel and to be able to get to our partnership schools in Stoke-on-Trent & Staffordshire by 8.30am with sometimes only 30-60 minute's notice for our on the day supply requirements.Please be aware that your daily rate will be dependent upon experience, prior qualifications, training, and the client rate that is currently available.
