Reporting to: MCR Manager/MCR Assistant Manager

Responsible for: Restaurant and Bar Service to Members and Guests

Hours: 35 hour working week including paid break = 40 hours paid contract any 5 days in 7

Salary: £29,626.35 pa

Post Objectives

To provide excellent food and beverage service to all members and guests in the Restaurant and Bar and across the Inn, to the highest possible standards.

Main Duties

The following list of duties is indicative of the nature of the post. Priorities, timescales and standards will be set in agreement with management, recognising the level of professional competence of the post-holder.

1. To greet members and their guests, contribute to a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere.
2. To lead by example to ensure that all customers and employees are treated with, dignity and respect.
3. To provide a prompt service of food and beverages to the highest standards of customer service, ensuring a thorough knowledge of the food and drinks menu items. Taking food and beverages orders from customers and serving it as requested, paying attention to detail, satisfying customers’ requests in a timely manner and make food and drinks recommendations as per guests’ preferences. Competently advice customers on the menu paying attention to present allergens.
4. Tables, bar and terrace service stations mise-en-place.
5. Ensure the cleanliness of the MCR bar and service area, maintaining agreed standards of care, hygiene and cleanliness following cleaning schedules.
6. To be responsible for presenting, collecting bills and ensuring that payments are charged correctly.
7. A confident team player, you will communicate positively, both with customers and colleagues.
8. To demonstrate flexibility and ability to work shifts.

Occasional Duties

1. To attend training courses and departmental meetings as required.
2. Undertake other duties, within reasonable request of management.

Person Specification

Skills, knowledge & attitude required:

1. You will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the catering industry and have at least one year of previous experience in a restaurant environment.
2. You will be flexible in your approach to work and be willing to adapt to changing circumstances.
3. Be able to bring a fresh approach to daily routines.
4. You will demonstrate honesty and integrity in everything you do.
5. You will approach the job with enthusiasm and be positive and helpful.
