How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

An established and highly respected full-service law firm is seeking a Residential Property Assistant to join their friendly and proactive team on a permanent, full-time basis in their Chelmsford office.

The firm has a strong reputation for delivering high-quality advice to businesses, public sector organisations and private clients both domestically and internationally.

The firm’s commitment to professional excellence is matched by a genuine focus on people, wellbeing and career development.

    The Team

You’ll be joining a busy Residential Property team operating seamlessly across the firm’s office network. Within the wider group, enfranchisement is a specialist and growing area, supported by experienced fee earners and team leaders who foster collaboration and continuous learning.

    The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a busy, growing Residential Property team, providing professional and dedicated support to a Team Leader. As a Conveyancing Assistant, you’ll play a key role in maintaining efficient file management, supporting client communications, and ensuring the smooth running of transactions.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Regularly updating clients, agents and other stakeholders, providing phone and email support in the team leader’s absence
    • Drafting contract packs, completion statements and other legal documents
    • Preparing files for completion and managing post-completion processes
    • Maintaining accurate records and databases, including compliance documentation
    • Liaising effectively with colleagues across departments and external contacts
    • Assisting with file management and office systems to ensure compliance and efficiency
    • Proofreading, preparing report bundles and managing deeds
    • Clarifying instructions and proactively resolving queries

    You will bring:

    • A positive, professional approach and excellent communication skills
    • Recent experience supporting a Residential Conveyancing team
    • Confidence in dealing with a wide range of clients — from first-time buyers to high-value investors
    • A genuine interest in property law and client care will help you thrive in this fast-paced, collaborative environment.
