How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Shift patterns

    We currently have roles available on the following rota patterns:

    2 on 4 off

    2 on 2 off

    3 on 3 off

    You will be expected to work as part of a residential rota, which may include long days, evenings, weekends and sleep-in duties where required by the service.

    About the role

    As a Children’s Residential Support Worker, you will support young people in their day-to-day lives, helping to create a safe, nurturing and structured home environment.

    You will support routines, activities, emotional regulation, independence skills, positive relationships, safeguarding and professional recording.

    What you will be doing

    Providing high-quality, person-centred care to children and young people

    Creating a safe, structured and nurturing home environment

    Supporting young people with daily routines, activities and emotional wellbeing

    Responding calmly and professionally to challenging situations

    Following safeguarding procedures and escalating concerns appropriately

    Completing accurate records, daily logs, observations and incident reports

    Supporting young people to build confidence, independence and life skills

    Promoting dignity, privacy, respect and choice

    Working closely with colleagues, managers and external professionals

    Supporting the delivery of our RESET Care Model: Reassure, Empower, Support, Educate and Transition

    What we are looking for

    We are looking for people who are caring, resilient, reliable and willing to learn.

    You may already have experience in children’s residential care, support work, youth work, education, mental health, learning disabilities, complex needs or similar settings.

    Previous experience in a children’s residential home is desirable, but not essential for the right person.

    The ideal candidate will have:

    The ability to remain calm and confident in challenging situations

    An understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries

    A caring, consistent and child-centred approach

    Good communication and recording skills

    A willingness to learn about trauma-informed care, PACE, therapeutic approaches and positive behaviour support

    The confidence to use initiative while working safely within care plans, risk assessments and company procedures

    A professional attitude and the ability to be a positive role model
