How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We're looking for a talented M&E Estimator to join our pre-construction team, reporting to our Estimating Director to deliver accurate, competitive cost plans for prestigious Cat A and Cat B office fit-out projects across London.


    The Role

    As M&E Estimator, you'll be responsible for preparing detailed mechanical and electrical estimates throughout the tender process, supporting projects from initial enquiry through to tender settlement and handover.

    Working closely with the Lead Estimator and wider bid team, you'll ensure the M&E package integrates seamlessly into the overall tender strategy across single-stage, two-stage and PCSA procurement routes.


    Key Responsibilities

    • Prepare accurate M&E cost estimates for commercial interior fit-out projects.
    • Review tender documentation, drawings, specifications and scopes to identify project requirements, risks and opportunities.
    • Measure and quantify M&E works including:HVAC & comfort cooling,Electrical & small power,Lighting & controls,Public health,BMS,Fire detection, Sprinklers/suppression, AV/IT containment.
    • Produce Bills of Quantities and cost plans.
    • Issue enquiries to subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring clear scopes and interface requirements.
    • Analyse and level subcontractor quotations, identifying commercial risks and opportunities.
    • Support the development of cost plans and schedules of rates across RIBA Stages 2–4.
    • Identify value engineering and buildability solutions, particularly within live and occupied commercial buildings.
    • Consider landlord requirements, base-build interfaces, access restrictions and phased delivery in all estimates.
    • Liaise with clients, consultants, design teams and commercial colleagues throughout the tender process.
    • Support tender settlement meetings, post-tender interviews and project handovers to delivery teams.


    About You

    You'll have strong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical building services and experience producing estimates within a commercial fit-out environment.

    You'll also bring:

    • Proven M&E estimating experience with either a main contractor or specialist M&E contractor.
    • Strong understanding of Cat A and Cat B office fit-out projects.
    • Experience working with landlord/tenant demarcation and base-build interfaces.
    • Ability to interpret architectural, M&E and services drawings and specifications.
    • Proficiency with estimating software such as CostX and Estimating+.
    • Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.
    • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
    • A collaborative approach and excellent communication skills.
