How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Financial Controller

    Location: Northamptonshire (Office Based)
    Salary: £70,000 - £ 80,000

    We are recruiting on behalf of a growing business for a commercially focused Financial Controller. This is an excellent opportunity to join a business at an exciting stage of its growth journey, with genuine progression potential and exposure to strategic decision-making.

    Reporting directly to the Executive Directors, you will take ownership of financial control, reporting, and governance, while also driving systems improvements and supporting operational performance across the business.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Lead all financial control activities and ensure the accuracy of financial reporting.

    * Produce monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.

    * Maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with statutory and tax requirements.

    * Support year-end audits and attend board meetings in an advisory capacity.

    * Develop and monitor key financial and operational KPIs.

    * Drive improvements to ERP and finance systems, reporting, and processes.

    * Partner with operational and commercial teams to improve business performance and efficiency.

    * Lead continuous improvement initiatives and support strategic business decisions.

    About You

    * Qualified Chartered Accountant or finalist nearing completion.

    * Previous experience within a manufacturing or trading environment.

    * Strong understanding of management accounts, cash flow, balance sheets, credit control, and ledgers.

    * Commercially minded with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

    * Ambitious, inquisitive, and keen to progress into a senior leadership role.

    * Comfortable in a hands-on manufacturing environment and able to build credibility across the business.
