How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Technical Sales Engineer – Field-Based / Remote – Manchester Area (North) – Permanent
Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum + Commission + £500 Car Allowance | OTE £51,000+

We’re searching for a Technical Sales Engineer who can do more than just sell — someone who thrives on solving complex customer problems and turning technical insight into commercial success. If you’re motivated by variety, autonomy, and the chance to work with leading-edge mechanical and electromechanical solutions, this role is for you.

Our client is a bespoke engineering company delivering design, build, repair, and refurbishment solutions across multiple industries. With growth accelerating, they’re looking to add a Technical Sales Engineer to the team who can open new doors, re-ignite old accounts, and become a trusted partner to customers across the North of England.

    The Role

As a Technical Sales Engineer, you’ll be field-based across the northern territory, managing your own schedule and ensuring maximum impact with both new and existing clients. You’ll have the opportunity to shape customer solutions, influence technical decisions, and directly drive business growth.

    Key Responsibilities

Visiting customers across the North of England for machine surveys and technical sales meetings
Advising on and selling motion control products and systems
Creating accurate technical quotations with supplier collaboration
Re-engaging lapsed and legacy accounts to uncover fresh opportunities
Tracking industry trends and identifying high-growth sectors
Managing a structured CRM pipeline while supporting marketing campaigns

    About You

Experienced Technical Sales Engineer or in a similar customer-facing engineering role
Background in mechanical, electrical, or electromechanical engineering
Strong understanding of motion products (gearboxes, torque systems, inverters, drives, etc.)
Excellent communication skills with strong commercial awareness
Independent, proactive, and confident managing a field-based diary

    Why This Role?

This isn’t just another sales role — it’s a chance to take ownership of a key territory, represent an innovative engineering brand, and be rewarded for both your technical expertise and sales results. You’ll have freedom in how you work, backed by a supportive, ambitious team.

Apply now and make your mark as a Technical Sales Engineer with a business that values knowledge, initiative, and results
