How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Highways Site Engineer (Drainage & Structures)

    Location: Suffolk

Rate: £350 - £400 per day (LTD or PAYE)

    Start: ASAP

    Duration: 80 Weeks (Long-term project)

    Project Overview

We are seeking a competent Highways Site Engineer to handle the setting out, engineering control, and quality assurance for a major highway scheme in Suffolk. This is a secure, ultra-long-term contract package offering 80 weeks of continuous work focusing heavily on deep drainage networks and structural concrete elements.

You will be the primary technical presence on the ground for your section, ensuring all civil engineering works are executed precisely to National Highways specifications, design drawings, and strict tolerances.

    Key Responsibilities

Setting Out: Provide accurate engineering control and setting out for heavy highway infrastructure, specifically deep drainage, attenuation tanks, culverts, and structural concrete/retaining elements.

Quality Assurance (QA): Establish, manage, and close out ITPs (Inspection Test Plans). Conduct pre-pour inspections, materialize check sheets, and compile comprehensive As-Built surveys.

Technical Interface: Read and interpret complex highway drawings, structural schedules, and digital models. Identify design discrepancies early and raise clear RFIs to the design team.

Site Coordination: Work collaboratively with the Highways Works Manager, Section Foreman, and groundworks gangs to ensure smooth production and prevent delays on the critical path.

    Requirements

Highways & Civils Experience: Proven track record working as a Site Engineer on live highway infrastructure, with specific engineering experience in deep drainage and highway structures.

Equipment Proficiency: Must be fully competent with modern robotic total stations (Leica/Trimble) and GPS kit for data collection and setting out on linear infrastructure.

Education: HNC, HND, or Degree in Civil Engineering.

Certifications: Valid CSCS card. Any additional safety tickets (SSSTS/SMSTS, First Aid) are highly desirable.

    Contract Details

    Location: Suffolk (Highway site-based).

Payment Options: LTD or PAYE engagement models available.

Timeline: Immediate mobilization with 80 weeks of secured contract work.

If this is something that interests you please apply or reach out directly.
