How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Mechanical Design Engineer

    Location: Yeovil, Somerset
    Rate: Up to £46 per hour (depending on experience)

    Mechanical Design Engineer Opportunity

    We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading aerospace engineering organisation based in Yeovil. This is an excellent opportunity to work on innovative aerospace projects, contributing to the design and development of advanced mechanical systems within a collaborative engineering environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    Develop concept designs supported by engineering analysis.
    Produce detailed mechanical designs using 2D and 3D CAD.
    Create and maintain engineering drawings, drawing packs, and supporting documentation.
    Carry out tolerance analysis and process engineering changes.
    Liaise with Production Engineering and Production Planning to ensure designs are optimised for manufacture.
    Deliver engineering projects in line with agreed schedules and project milestones.
    Work in accordance with engineering procedures, standards, and best practices.Skills & Experience

    Minimum 2 years' experience in mechanical design, ideally involving precision components.
    Experience using 3D CAD, preferably Siemens NX.
    Competent in both 2D and 3D CAD.
    Basic understanding of Configuration Control.
    Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
    Understanding of machining, manufacturing techniques, and design for manufacture principles.
    Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma is advantageous.
    Strong communication skills with a customer-focused and results-driven approach.
    Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, multi-project engineering environment.Qualifications

    Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline is preferred but not essential.
    Candidates with relevant engineering experience and a strong technical background will also be considered.
    Experience designing small, fine-tolerance mechanical components is desirable.What's on Offer
