How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    HGV Drivers - Class 1 (Nights) & Class 2 (Days)

    Location: Preston / Northwest

    HGV Class 2 (Days)

    * £14.00 - £16.00 per hour

    * Local & regional deliveries (PR, LA & BB postcodes)

    * Monday to Friday day shifts (45-50 hours)

    HGV Class 1 (Nights - Trunking)

    * £17.00 - £18.00 per hour

    * Preston to Manchester, Nottingham & Nuneaton

    * Sunday to Thursday, 7:00pm-9:00pm starts, returning by approximately 5:00am

    Both roles commence on a full-time 12-week temp-to-perm basis, subject to business requirements, attendance and performance. Permanent employment is offered following a successful probationary period.

    The roles

    NW Recruitment Services Ltd are working in exclusive partnership with a well-established transport and logistics operation in Preston to recruit experienced HGV Drivers.

    Whether you're looking for Class 2 day work or Class 1 night trunking, you'll be joining a professional transport team offering consistent hours, modern vehicles, ongoing support and genuine long-term career prospects.

    Duties

    * Drive Class 2 local/regional delivery routes or Class 1 scheduled trunking routes.

    * Carry out daily vehicle safety inspections and report defects.

    * Complete delivery paperwork and digital tachograph records accurately.

    * Load, secure and transport goods safely while complying with transport legislation.

    * Provide a professional service and maintain communication with the transport office throughout your shift.

    Requirements

    * Valid UK HGV Class 2 (Category C) or Class 1 (Category C+E) licence.

    * Valid Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card.

    * Maximum of six penalty points (major endorsements not accepted).

    * Previous HGV driving experience preferred.

    * Good understanding of Driver Hours Regulations and UK road networks.

    * Reliable, professional and safety-conscious approach.
