How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Your new company
    Hays Education are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in London to recruit a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Mentor.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning, improve behaviour, and achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will play a key role in providing pastoral and behavioural support to students, helping to create a positive and productive learning environment across the school.

    Your new role
    As a Behaviour Mentor, you will:

    Provide one-to-one and small-group support for students with behavioural, social, emotional, or pastoral needs.
    Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils, acting as a mentor and role model.
    Support students in managing their behaviour and engagement both inside and outside the classroom.
    Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral leaders, the SEN department and families to implement effective intervention strategies.
    Monitor student progress, attendance and behaviour, providing regular feedback to relevant staff.
    Promote positive behaviour, resilience, confidence and self-esteem.
    Assist with behaviour management across the school and support students during periods of emotional dysregulation.
    What you'll need to succeed
    The successful candidate will have:

    Experience working with secondary-aged students.
    Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
    A calm, patient and resilient approach.
    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
    A genuine passion for supporting young people to succeed.Previous experience as a Behaviour Mentor, Learning Mentor, Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker, Support Worker, Sports Coach, Residential Support Worker or similar role would be advantageous.
