How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Electrician - HMP Ranby

    Location: HMP Ranby, Retford, Nottinghamshire

    Start Date: 3rd August

    Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00am - 16:30pm

    Rate: £18.00 - £22.00 per hour (CIS)

    Contract: Temporary/Ongoing

    Job Overview

    We are currently seeking experienced Electricians to work on a project at HMP Ranby. This role will involve carrying out electrical installation, maintenance, upgrades, and testing works within a secure prison environment.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality electrical work while adhering to strict health and safety procedures and security protocols.

    Key Responsibilities

    Installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment.
    Testing, inspection, and fault-finding of electrical installations.
    Installation of containment systems, wiring, lighting, and associated electrical components.
    Reading and interpreting electrical drawings and specifications.
    Ensuring all work is completed to current industry regulations and standards.
    Maintaining accurate records of work completed.
    Working safely and professionally within a secure prison environment.
    Liaising with site management and other trades as required.
    Essential Requirements

    NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation or equivalent.
    18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
    ECS/JIB Gold Card or equivalent.
    Previous experience in commercial or industrial electrical installations.
    Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    Strong understanding of health and safety regulations.
    Own tools and PPE.
    Desirable Requirements

    Previous experience working within prisons, secure facilities, or government sites.
    TEL1 clearance 
    Testing & Inspection qualification (2391 or equivalent).
    Security clearance or ability to pass prison vetting procedures.
    Full UK Driving Licence.
