How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Food Technology Teacher

    Location: Oldham
    Salary: MPS/UPS (depending on experience)
    Start Date: September 2026
    Contract Type: Long Term Supply
    Working Hours: Full-time (Monday to Friday)

    Are you an experienced Food Technology Teacher looking for a rewarding long-term opportunity?

    GSL Education Manchester branch are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Food Technology Teacher to join a welcoming secondary school in Oldham from September 2026.

    The successful Food Technology Teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality lessons to Key Stage 3 students while undertaking planning and marking responsibilities, with allocated time provided within the timetable. In addition to teaching Food Technology, you will be expected to provide general cover when required around your teaching schedule, making this an ideal role for a flexible and committed professional.

    Responsibilities of a Food Technology Teacher:

    Plan and deliver engaging Food Technology lessons to Key Stage 3 students.
    Prepare practical and theory-based learning activities in line with the national curriculum.
    Undertake planning, preparation, and marking responsibilities.
    Assess, monitor, and record student progress, providing constructive feedback.
    Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.
    Promote high standards of behaviour and student engagement.
    Support with general cover duties when required around the timetable.
    Work collaboratively with colleagues to contribute to the wider school community.
    Requirements of a Food Technology Teacher:

    Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
    Have experience teaching Food Technology to Key Stage 3 students.
    Strong knowledge of the Food Technology curriculum and practical classroom delivery.
    Be available to work Monday to Friday.
    Be willing to undertake planning and marking responsibilities.
    Confident in delivering engaging and effective lessons.
    Flexible and willing to provide general classroom cover when required.
    Excellent classroom management, communication, and organisational skills.
    An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
