How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Production Engineer

    Salary £55k Including Performance Bonus + Benefits

    The company, a successful manufacturing business, and a recent acquisition by a privately owned 11,000 employee Global Organisation, are poised to experience huge growth over the next few years due to significant investment.

    Due to the expansion and investment in new systems and procedures they are now expanding their Engineering team and they see this as an exciting opportunity to join the business as a Production Engineer.

    Person and Role

    Are you a proactive and hands-on Production Engineer looking to make a real impact? We're looking for a Production Engineer to support and optimise our manufacturing operations, helping to improve manufacturing processes, enhance product quality and increase operational efficiency across our production facility.

    Working within a multi-stage manufacturing environment that includes laser cutting, forming, welding, assembly and rubber processing, you'll play a key role in driving continuous improvement, supporting production teams and implementing engineering solutions that improve business performance.

    What You'll Be Doing

    Process Optimisation & Industrial Engineering

    • Analyse and improve manufacturing processes, production flow, plant layout and cycle times.
    • Identify and implement process improvements using Lean Manufacturing principles, waste reduction techniques and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
    • Optimise manufacturing methods across laser cutting, forming and bending, welding, assembly and rubber processing.
    • Support automation projects and equipment upgrades to improve productivity and manufacturing efficiency.

    Production Support & Problem Solving

    • Act as the technical interface between Engineering and Production.
    • Investigate and resolve production issues, including quality concerns, process deviations and manufacturing bottlenecks.
    • Develop and maintain stable, repeatable and robust manufacturing processes.
    • Provide hands-on engineering support to production teams to improve operational performance.

    Quality & Continuous Improvement

    • Ensure manufacturing processes comply with internal quality standards and relevant certifications, including ISO standards.
    • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions using structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D.
    • Drive Continuous Improvement and Kaizen initiatives throughout the manufacturing operation.
    • Support internal and external audits.
    • Maintain accurate process documentation, work instructions and engineering records.

    Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Work closely with Production, Engineering, SHEQ, Purchasing and Suppliers to support manufacturing excellence.
    • Build effective working relationships across departments to ensure successful implementation of engineering improvements.
    • Support cross-functional projects to improve quality, efficiency and operational performance.
    • Assist with the introduction of new equipment, manufacturing processes and continuous improvement initiatives.

    About You

    You'll be a practical and proactive Production Engineer who enjoys working in a collaborative manufacturing environment and can confidently identify opportunities to improve processes, solve production challenges and support operational excellence.

    Essential Skills & Experience

    • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline; alternatively, an HND with relevant industrial experience.
    • 3-5 years' experience in a manufacturing or production engineering environment.
    • Experience within metal processing, fabrication or assembly manufacturing.
    • Good understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement techniques.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work across multiple departments.
    • Organised, proactive and results driven.
    • Hands-on approach with the ability to provide shop floor engineering support.

    Desirable

    • Experience working within a multi-stage manufacturing operation.
    • Knowledge of welding, forming or sealing technologies.
    • Experience using ERP systems (SAP experience is advantageous).
    • Project management experience.
    • Familiarity with industrial engineering techniques and advanced process improvement methodologies.
