How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Saw Operator

    Location: Walsall
    Hours: Monday to Friday 06:00am - 15:00pm
    Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

We are recruiting for a Saw Operator to join a well-established manufacturing company based in Walsall.

This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a small, friendly team in a clean, organised manufacturing environment with free on-site parking, excellent working conditions, and genuine long-term job security.

    The Role

This is a fast-paced, hands-on position where accuracy and efficiency are equally important. You'll be responsible for operating a bar saw, measuring and cutting materials to customer specifications, and managing your own workload from start to finish.

This isn't a role for someone who likes to stand around waiting to be told what to do. We need someone who is proactive, takes pride in their work, and is happy to get involved in all aspects of the operation.

    Your duties will include:

Setting up and operating a bar saw.

Measuring materials accurately using tapes, Vernier calipers, and other measuring equipment.

Cutting materials to customer specifications and engineering drawings.

Feeding your own machine using an overhead crane and forklift truck.

Banding, labelling, and preparing finished products for dispatch.

Carrying out quality checks to ensure products meet specification.

Keeping your work area clean, safe, and organised.

Supporting the wider warehouse and production team when required.

    What We're Looking For

Previous experience operating a band saw or bar saw within a manufacturing or steel environment.

Confident using measuring equipment, including Vernier calipers.

Experience reading measurements accurately and working to tight tolerances.

An overhead crane licence is advantageous.

A valid Counterbalance FLT licence is desirable.

Someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and takes ownership of their work.

A reliable team player with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.

We're not looking for someone who'll stand with their hands on their hips waiting for the next job. We need someone who's happy to keep busy, manage their own workload, and contribute to the success of the team every day.

    What's on Offer

    Full-time, permanent employment.

Clean, modern, and well-organised working environment.

    Small, supportive team.

Convenient Walsall location with free on-site parking.

Profit share scheme, giving you the opportunity to earn thousands of pounds in additional income each year, subject to company performance.

Stable, secure employment with a successful and growing manufacturing business.

If you're looking for a long-term opportunity where hard work is recognised, you'll be given responsibility from day one, and you'll be part of a company that values its employees, we'd love to hear from you.
