How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Mechanical Process Design Engineer
📍 Widnes, Cheshire | Permanent | Competitive Salary + Benefits
Do you design liquid process systems?
If you've designed pipework, pumping systems and hygienic process plant for breweries, distilleries, dairy, beverage or food manufacturers, we'd love to hear from you.
We're looking for an experienced Mechanical Process Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team, delivering turnkey process solutions for leading UK and international manufacturers.
You'll design complete mechanical process systems—from concept through to commissioning—working on projects involving pumps, valves, vessels, heat exchangers and stainless-steel pipework.
    What You'll Do
    * Design hygienic liquid process systems for brewing, beverage and food production.
    * Produce Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
    * Carry out engineering calculations including pipe sizing, pump selection, pressure loss and heat transfer.
    * Specify pumps, valves, vessels, heat exchangers and process equipment.
    * Work with CAD teams to develop practical, buildable 3D layouts.
    * Support projects through procurement, installation and commissioning.
    * Carry out site surveys and work closely with clients, suppliers and internal engineering teams.
    What We're Looking For
    * Experience designing liquid process systems within brewing, beverage, dairy, food or other hygienic process industries.
    * Strong knowledge of fluid handling, pumping systems and stainless-steel process pipework.
    * Experience producing PFDs, P&IDs and engineering calculations.
    * Ability to specify process equipment and develop practical engineering solutions.
    * Good understanding of hygienic process design and industry standards.
    * Comfortable with occasional UK and overseas travel.
    Why Join Us?
    * Work on technically challenging projects across the brewing and beverage industries.
    * Supportive engineering team with genuine autonomy.
    * Career development within a growing business.
    * Competitive salary and benefits package.
If you're experienced in designing systems that move liquids through hygienic process plant, we'd love to hear from you
