How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    External Sales & Surveyor Representative

    Company: A-Span Ltd Location: Northampton (Office Based with Travel to Customers) Employment Type: Permanent, Full Time (Up to 40 Hours Per Week) Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 per annum DOE up to £50 000 with commission.

    The Role: We are seeking a driven and commercially focused Sales Representative/Executive. The sales representative will be responsible for developing new business opportunities, managing customer relationships, and converting enquiries into profitable projects. Working closely with merchants, distributors, facilities management companies, building owners, and contractors. The successful candidate will be acting as a central point of contact between customers and the business.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with both existing and prospective customers, ensuring exceptional levels of customer service throughout the sales and project process.

    Regular customer visits and site inspections will be required to assess client requirements, understand project needs, and recommend appropriate roofing and cladding solutions. Through proactive engagement and face-to-face interactions, you will develop long-term customer partnerships, generate new business opportunities, and contribute to the continued growth and success of the company.

    Key Responsibilities

    Business Development & Sales

    * Identify, target, and secure new business opportunities within the roofing, cladding, refurbishment, and maintenance sectors.

    * Generate leads through networking, referrals, market research, industry contacts, and business development activities.

    * Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective clients and projects.

    * Conduct client meetings and site visits to promote company services.

    * Convert enquiries and lead to profitable business opportunities.

    * Prepare and present quotations, proposals, tenders, and service presentations.

    * Negotiate commercial terms and agreements within approved parameters.

    * Achieve agreed sales targets, revenue objectives, and key performance indicators.

    * Support the development and implementation of sales strategies to drive sustainable business growth.

    Customer Relationship Management

    * Build and maintain strong relationships with merchants, distributors, contractors, facilities management companies, property owners, and commercial clients.

    * Act as a key point of contact for customer enquiries and project opportunities.

    * Understand client requirements and provide commercially viable solutions.

    * Maintain regular communication with customers to encourage repeat business and long-term partnerships.

    * Identify opportunities to expand existing accounts and increase customer spending.

    * Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction throughout the sales and project lifecycle.

    * Resolve customer issues promptly and professionally.

    * Identify opportunities for market expansion and increased market share.

    Site Surveys & Project Support

    * Plan and conduct site visits and surveys to assess roofing and cladding requirements. Full training will be provided.

    * Gather accurate information regarding site conditions and project scope to as far as reasonably practicable produce quotation for the scope of works.

    * Continued communication with the Contracts Management to ensure customer expectations are met, accurate project handover and delivery.

    * Support the progression of projects from initial enquiry through to completion.

    Reporting & Administration

    * Produce regular sales forecasts, activity reports, and business development updates, supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the business.

    * Track sales performance against targets and KPIs.

    * Ensure quotations, proposals, and supporting documentation are completed accurately and professionally.

    * Maintain compliance with company procedures and reporting requirements.

    Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

    · Achievement of monthly and annual sales targets.
    · New customer acquisition.
    · Conversion rate of enquiries and quotations.
    · Sales pipeline development.
    · Customer retention and account growth.
    · Number of customer visits and meetings conducted.

    Qualifications & Experience

    Essential

    ·Minimum 2 years' experience in sales, business development, account management, or customer-facing commercial role.
    ·Proven ability to generate new business and develop customer relationships.
    ·Experience preparing quotations, proposals, and commercial documentation.
    ·Experience working towards sales targets and KPIs.
    ·Full UK Driving License.

    Desirable

    ·Experience within the construction, roofing, cladding, building products, or related industries.
    ·Experience working with merchants, distributors, contractors, or facilities management companies.
    ·Qualification in Business, Sales, Marketing, Construction, or a related discipline.

    Additional Requirements
