How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Earlies Monday to Friday | 6:00am to 2:00pm

    Lates Monday to Wednesday | 2:00pm to Midnight Thursday | 2:00pm to 11:30pm Friday Off Every Week

    The Role

    As one of our Mechanical Assemblers, you'll play a vital role in the assembly, overhaul and refurbishment of critical rail components.

    Duties will include:

    Assembly and overhaul of mechanical rolling stock components
    Repair and refurbishment of braking systems and bogie components
    Stripping, inspecting and rebuilding a wide range of brake system products
    Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications
    Using hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment safely and effectively
    Following established engineering procedures and quality standards
    Completing accurate maintenance and build records
    About You

    We're looking for motivated Mechanical Assemblers who take pride in delivering high quality workmanship and can thrive in a fast paced engineering environment.

    You may come from a rail, heavy engineering, automotive, aerospace, manufacturing or similar mechanical background.

    Essential

    Ability to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings
    Strong mechanical assembly, fitting or overhaul experience
    Excellent attention to detail
    Experience using hand tools and workshop equipment
    Ability to work independently and within a team
    Understanding of safe working practices in a safety critical environment
    Ability to complete accurate documentation and records
    Desirable

    NVQ Level 2 in a Mechanical discipline or equivalent experience
    Previous rolling stock, heavy engineering, manufacturing or automotive experience
