How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Make a Difference: Become a Behaviour Support Assistant!

Are you passionate about supporting young people and helping them overcome barriers to learning? Do you have the patience, resilience and empathy to positively influence students who may need additional support with behaviour and engagement?

Vision for Education is delighted to be working with a supportive secondary school in Newcastle, who are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join their team. This role offers opportunities for daily supply, long-term placements or fixed-term contracts, depending on your availability and the needs of the school.

    About the Role

As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and pastoral teams to support students who require additional help managing their behaviour and engagement in school. You will play a key role in helping pupils remain focused in lessons, develop positive relationships and build confidence in their learning.

This role may involve working with individuals or small groups of students both inside and outside of the classroom, providing guidance, encouragement and support to help them succeed in a school environment.

    Responsibilities may include:

Supporting students who may experience behavioural, social or emotional challenges

Promoting positive behaviour and helping students develop effective coping strategies

Assisting teachers in managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a positive learning environment

Working with small groups or on a one-to-one basis to support engagement in lessons

Supporting the school’s behaviour and safeguarding policies

Building positive relationships with students to help encourage confidence and resilience

    Requirements

To be considered for this role, you should have:

Experience working with young people, children or within a support role

Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships

Patience, resilience and a calm approach when managing challenging situations

A genuine passion for supporting young people in education

The ability to work collaboratively with teachers and school staff

Experience in youth work, coaching, mentoring, care work or education support roles would be highly beneficial.

    What We Offer

Excellent daily rates, paid through the PAYE system

A guaranteed pay scheme, subject to availability

Access to social and networking events

    Pension contributions

Access to Continuous Professional Development (CPD) to support your professional growth

A dedicated consultant who will support you throughout your placements

Seize this opportunity to make a positive impact on young people’s lives. Join Vision for Education and help students build confidence, resilience and success in their education.

Vision for Education do not discriminate on the grounds of age, gender, race, colour, religion, disability or sexual orientation, and we welcome applications from all sections of the community.
