How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Graduate Transport Planner

    Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
    Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent

    Are you a recent graduate looking to build a career in transport planning? Do you have a passion for sustainable transport, infrastructure, and shaping the future of our towns and cities?

    We're looking for a motivated Graduate Transport Planner to join our growing team in Newcastle upon Tyne. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience, receive structured training, and work on a diverse range of residential, commercial, education, and mixed-use developments across the UK.

    You'll work alongside experienced transport planners and engineers, developing the technical and professional skills needed for a successful career in consultancy.

    The Role

    As a Graduate Transport Planner, you'll support the delivery of a variety of transport planning projects, including:

    * Assisting with the preparation of Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, and Travel Plans.

    * Analysing traffic and transport data.

    * Supporting planning applications with technical reports and documentation.

    * Undertaking site visits and traffic surveys.

    * Using industry software and mapping tools to support project work.

    * Working closely with colleagues, clients, and local authorities.

    * Contributing to projects from inception through to completion.

    About You

    We're looking for someone who is enthusiastic, analytical, and keen to learn.

    You'll ideally have:

    * A degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.

    * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

    * Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    * Good organisational skills and attention to detail.

    * Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

    * Knowledge of GIS, AutoCAD, or transport modelling software is advantageous but not essential.

    * A full UK driving licence is beneficial but not essential.
