How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Community Manager (Later Living) - 6 Month Fixed Term Contract

    Location: Bedfordshire, MK42 8SY
    Salary: £28,815 per annum for 30 hours per week (£33,618 FTE)
    Hours: Part-time, 30 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 9:00am-3:30pm
    Contract: 6 Month Fixed Term Contract

    Your Typical Day Could Start With...

    A conversation with a resident who needs advice and support, followed by coordinating a repair with a contractor and ensuring communal areas are safe, welcoming and well-maintained. Later, you might attend a Residents' Committee meeting, process purchase orders, or work with local organisations to help residents access additional services and support.

    As a Community Manager, you'll play a vital role in creating a thriving, safe and supportive environment within one of our Later Living homeownership communities, helping residents maintain their independence while enjoying a great quality of life.

    What You'll Be Doing

    In this varied and rewarding role, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day management of the scheme, ensuring residents receive excellent service and support. You'll:

    * Deliver effective housing management across the community

    * Provide advice, guidance and practical support to residents

    * Build positive relationships with residents, colleagues, contractors and external partners

    * Oversee repairs and maintenance, liaising with contractors to ensure works are completed to a high standard

    * Manage budgets, process purchase orders and maintain accurate financial records

    * Coordinate the use and management of communal facilities

    * Support and attend Residents' Committee meetings

    * Signpost residents to relevant statutory, voluntary and community services

    * Ensure health and safety compliance is maintained across the scheme

    * Respond appropriately to emergencies when required

    What We're Looking For

    We're looking for someone who is organised, customer-focused and passionate about making a difference.

    You'll ideally have:

    * Experience in housing management or a similar customer-facing environment

    * Experience working with older people or within a Later Living setting

    * Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

    * Strong administrative skills and confidence using Microsoft Office applications

    * Knowledge of health and safety requirements

    * An understanding of the support needs of older people

    * The ability to manage competing priorities and work independently

    * Experience managing budgets and monitoring expenditure

    Please note: An Enhanced DBS check will be required for this role.
