How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    * Preparing material take-offs, schedules and purchase orders.

    * Obtaining and analysing quotations, ensuring best value is achieved.

    * Monitoring market trends, material pricing and availability.

    * Identifying value engineering opportunities without compromising quality.

    * Working closely with site teams to coordinate deliveries.

    * Managing supplier queries and resolving invoice issues.

    * Attending site meetings where required.

    * Supporting commercial performance through effective procurement strategies.

    Requirements

To be considered, you should have:

    * A minimum of 10 years' experience in a Buyer role within the UK housebuilding sector.

    * Strong knowledge of construction materials, specifications and current market pricing.

    * Excellent negotiation and commercial skills.

    * The ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical information.

    * Experience preparing material schedules and purchase orders.

    * Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

    * Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.

    * Experience using COINS, Bluebeam, Project Vault or similar systems would be advantageous.

    * A full UK driving licence.

    What's on Offer

    * Salary of £52,128 pro rata

    * Hybrid working (3 days office / 2 days remote)

    * 6-month fixed-term contract with potential for extension.

    * Opportunity to join a reputable residential developer with a supportive commercial team.
