I'm working with an established main contractor who are looking to appoint a Design Manager as part of their continued growth across London.
This is a strategic hire, initially supporting the delivery of a flagship commercial refurbishment before moving onto a pipeline of high-rise residential developments.
The Role
Managing design from pre-construction through to project completion
Leading consultant coordination and driving design programmes
Managing technical information, statutory approvals and buildability reviews
Supporting façade, glazing and external envelope packages on a flagship live project
Working closely with commercial, operational and delivery teams
Supporting future Gateway submissions across upcoming high-rise residential developments
Initially site-based before moving to a mixture of office and site
Your First Project
£40m commercial office refurbishment
Comprehensive refurbishment of a 12-storey, 25,000m² office building
Full MEP replacement, new glazing and curtain walling
High-specification entrance lobby and CAT A office fit-out
Targeting BREEAM Excellent certification
Providing design management support across the façade and glazing packages
What they're looking for
Design Manager from a main contractor background
Experience delivering commercial refurbishment or high-rise residential projects
Strong technical understanding of RC frame structures & HRBs
Experience managing consultant teams and driving technical delivery
Knowledge of Gateway processes
Hands-on, proactive and comfortable taking ownership
