How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Senior EHV / HV Substation Engineer –Up to £90,000 + Excellent Benefits– Leeds, West Yorkshire

    The Role

    Are you an experienced engineer who enjoys leading complex EHV/HV substation projects from concept through to commissioning? Would you like to work on major renewable energy, battery storage and transmission projects that are helping shape the UK's energy future?     As a Senior EHV / HV Substation Engineer, you'll join Primary Power Consulting, a growing specialist consultancy delivering high-profile projects across the UK energy sector.

    Working alongside highly experienced engineers, you'll provide technical leadership and coordinate the successful delivery of projects ranging from distribution networks through to transmission-connected infrastructure.     Key Responsibilities:

    Lead the engineering and technical delivery of EHV/HV substation projects up to and including 132kV
    Produce and review detailed primary and secondary electrical designs
    Prepare engineering calculations, specifications, layouts, single-line diagrams and equipment schedules
    Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities across design and commissioning teams
    Attend client meetings, technical reviews and project workshops
    Support feasibility studies, FEED engineering and detailed design activities
    Provide technical guidance during bids and tender submissions
    Mentor junior engineers and encourage their professional development
    Ensure projects meet quality, safety, programme and contractual requirementsThe Company

    Extensive experience in EHV/HV substation engineering up to 132kV
    A degree, HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
    Experience delivering projects for National Grid, DNOs, ICPs, renewable energy developers or engineering consultancies
    Strong knowledge of primary plant, transformers, switchgear, cables and associated systems
    Experience producing or reviewing detailed substation designs
    Excellent communication and client relationship skills
    The ability to coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams
    A proactive approach and commitment to quality, safety and continuous improvement
    A full UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK
