How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Location: Long Eaton
    Pay: £14.00–£21.00 per hour, depending on experience
    Hours: Monday to Thursday, 06:30–15:30; Friday, 06:30–12:30
    Overtime: Available
    Positions: 2 CNC Millers and 2 CNC Turners

    We are recruiting experienced CNC Machinists for a well-established precision engineering company based in Long Eaton.

    The business is looking to appoint both CNC Setter/Operators and CNC Programmer/Setters, with opportunities available across CNC milling and turning.

    Pay Rates

    * CNC Setter/Operators: £14.00–£18.00 per hour

    * CNC Programmer/Setters: £17.00–£21.00 per hour

    * Regular overtime available

    The Role

    Depending on your experience, responsibilities will include:

    * Setting and operating CNC milling or turning machines

    * Programming CNC machinery using Fanuc controls

    * Working across 3, 4 and 5-axis machining centres

    * Producing precision components from engineering drawings

    * Selecting tooling and setting work offsets

    * Carrying out tool changes and adjustments

    * Completing first-off and in-process inspection

    * Using measuring equipment including micrometers, vernier calipers and gauges

    * Monitoring machining processes and resolving production issues

    * Ensuring components are manufactured to the required quality standards

    * Maintaining a safe, clean and organised working environment

    Candidate Requirements

    Applications are welcomed from CNC Setter/Operators and CNC Programmer/Setters with experience in either milling or turning.

    You should ideally have:

    * Previous CNC milling or CNC turning experience

    * Experience using Fanuc controls

    * The ability to set and operate CNC machinery

    * Programming experience for the higher-rate positions

    * Experience working from engineering drawings

    * Knowledge of tooling, speeds, feeds and machining processes

    * The ability to inspect your own work

    * Experience machining to close tolerances

    * A strong understanding of quality and health and safety procedures

    Experience with 4 or 5-axis machinery would be advantageous, although candidates with strong 3-axis experience will also be considered.

    Hours

    * Monday to Thursday: 06:30–15:30

    * Friday: 06:30–12:30
