How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Are you an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Technician looking for your next challenge?
     
    We're recruiting for a Maintenance Technician to join a busy Estates team supporting a large acute healthcare estate in Dorset.

    Working across a complex hospital environment, you'll carry out planned and reactive maintenance on critical mechanical building services, helping to ensure essential facilities remain safe, compliant and fully operational. This is an excellent opportunity to join an organisation investing heavily in its estate, with opportunities for overtime, specialist training and long-term career development.

    The Role
     
    As Maintenance Technician, you will:

    Carry out planned and reactive maintenance, fault finding and repairs across a wide range of mechanical building services and plant.
    Diagnose faults, complete installations and ensure critical equipment remains operational.
    Provide technical support and guidance to colleagues, contractors and apprentices.
    Carry out inspections, condition surveys and ensure compliance with Health & Safety and NHS engineering standards.
    Participate in the emergency on-call rota and support the wider Estates team in maintaining a safe and reliable healthcare environment. You
     
    To be successful in this role, you'll bring:

    A recognised mechanical or building services qualification, such as an apprenticeship, HNC, City & Guilds or equivalent.
    Experience maintaining mechanical building services within a complex commercial, healthcare or industrial environment.
    Strong fault-finding, repair and diagnostic skills across mechanical plant and equipment.
    A good understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe systems of work.
    A full UK driving licence and willingness to participate in an on-call rota. It would also be advantageous if you have experience with:

    Heating and ventilation systems.
    Safe water systems.
    Medical Gas Pipeline Systems (MGPS).
    NHS estates or other highly regulated environments. What's in it for you?
