How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Senior Systems Engineer (Electromechanical Systems) - Denham

Lead it. Integrate it. Protect Lives!

Step into a role where technical leadership meets real-world impact. As a Senior Systems Engineer (Electromechanical Systems) within our Systems team at Denham, you'll lead the development of the integrated systems behind life-saving aerospace technology. From concept through to certification, your expertise will help deliver cutting-edge ejection seat and safety systems designed to perform in the world's most demanding, safety-critical environments.

Direct Impact, Global Scale. Life-Saving Mission.

At Martin-Baker, the work we do matters. We design, manufacture and support life-saving equipment used by aircrew around the world. Our products operate in demanding environments, where quality, reliability and attention to detail are critical.

We're proud of our long history in aerospace and defence, while remaining focused on the future. Joining Martin-Baker means becoming part of a business with a clear purpose, world-class engineering capability and a long-term commitment to our people, products and customers.

Whether you work in engineering, operations, commercial, finance, supply chain or support functions, your contribution helps deliver equipment that protects lives. It is challenging work, but it is also meaningful. With more than 7,800 lives saved, our people have the opportunity to be part of something with genuine global impact.

    The Opportunity

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you'll join a collaborative, cross-functional Integrated Product Team, working alongside specialists in electronics, software, mechanical engineering and analysis to develop highly complex electromechanical systems (EMS).

You'll lead systems engineering activities across the full product lifecycle, from requirements definition and system architecture through to verification, validation and production support. Alongside your technical expertise, you'll provide leadership within the Systems Engineering team, mentoring engineers, driving engineering quality and helping shape technical direction across multiple programmes.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of aerospace programmes where no two projects are the same. You'll tackle complex system-of-systems engineering challenges while playing a key role in developing both innovative products and the engineers around you.

This role is based at our Denham site, with hybrid working considered following the probation period (6 months).

    What You'll Do

    * Lead and coordinate systems engineering activities across assigned work packages, supporting programme delivery and team prioritisation.

    * Develop, manage and maintain system requirements, ensuring customer, regulatory and internal standards are achieved.

    * Produce and review high-quality technical documentation, including system specifications, engineering reports and verification evidence.

    * Conduct feasibility studies, trade-off analyses and technical investigations to support new and existing programmes.

    * Perform system simulations, analytical assessments and test correlation activities using appropriate engineering tools.

    * Develop and enhance simulation models and analytical methods for complex electromechanical systems.

    * Support the design, integration, verification and validation of electromechanical systems throughout the product lifecycle.

    * Contribute to software development activities supporting system-level functionality, including safety-critical applications where required.

    * Mentor and coach engineers, providing technical guidance, design reviews and support to develop capability across the team.

    * Promote engineering excellence, consistency and continuous improvement within the Systems Engineering function.

    * Collaborate with customers, suppliers and multidisciplinary engineering teams, representing Systems Engineering during technical reviews and programme activities.

    * Travel within the UK and overseas as required to support programme delivery.

    What We're Looking For

    * Degree (2:1 or above) in Engineering, Science or a related technical discipline.

    * Extensive experience within aerospace, defence or another highly regulated systems engineering environment.

    * Proven experience leading or influencing multidisciplinary engineering teams.

    * Strong understanding of Systems Engineering principles across the full product lifecycle.

    * Experience producing complex technical documentation and engineering analyses.

    * Knowledge of software development principles and systems modelling techniques.

    * Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to solve complex technical challenges.

    * Strong communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with customers, stakeholders and engineering teams.

    * Experience mentoring, coaching or providing technical leadership to engineers.

    * Highly IT literate with experience using engineering analysis and modelling tools.

    * Share and demonstrate the Martin-Baker values.

    * Desirable

    * Understanding of UML and/or SysML.

    * Experience developing simulation models for electromechanical systems (EMS).

    * Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.

    * Previous formal technical or team leadership experience.
