How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Social Sciences Teacher – Witham (Long-Term Supply)

    Gold Education Recruitment is currently working with a welcoming secondary school in Witham, seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Social Sciences Teacher to join their department on a long-term supply basis.

    This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate educator to teach Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 Social Sciences within a supportive and forward-thinking school environment. The successful candidate must be prepared and able to teach Sociology, Health and Social Care, and Child Development across both key stages.

    This is a full teaching role and will include planning, preparation, and marking responsibilities.

    What You'll Be Doing:

    • Teaching Sociology, Health and Social Care, and Child Development across KS4 and KS5
    • Planning and delivering engaging, curriculum-aligned lessons
    • Preparing students for examinations and coursework requirements
    • Assessing work and providing clear, constructive feedback
    • Completing all marking and planning responsibilities associated with the role
    • Supporting students to develop analytical, critical thinking, and independent learning skills
    • Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies
    • Working collaboratively within a supportive Humanities and Social Sciences department
    • Monitoring student progress and implementing strategies to support achievement

    What We're Looking For:

    • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
    • Experience teaching Sociology, Health and Social Care, and Child Development in a UK secondary school or college
    • Strong subject knowledge across KS4 and KS5
    • An engaging and adaptable teaching approach
    • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
    • Strong communication and classroom management skills
    • Professional, reliable, and committed attitude
    • ECTs and experienced teachers are welcome to apply, provided they have experience within the relevant subjects
