How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    VGC Group are currently recruiting for a Telehandler & Slinger Signaller to join our team on a major project in Leiston, Suffolk.

    A Telehandler / Slinger is responsible for safely operating a telescopic handler (telehandler) and directing lifting operations on construction or industrial sites. The role combines machine operation with signalling duties to guide lifting equipment and ensure loads are moved securely and efficiently. Reporting to the Senior Plant Manager.

    Basic pay rate: £19.10 per hour PAYE
    Shift- 12 days on, 2 days off. 12 hour days
    Start Date: ASAP, subject to gaining vetting

    Lodge pay is available for the successful candidate, if they meet the criteria.

    Qualifications/experience:

    Valid Telehandler (e.g., CPCS or NPORS) certification
    Valid Slinger/Signaller certification (CPCS/NPORS)
    Previous experience in construction or industrial environments
    Knowledge of lifting regulations (e.g., LOLER, PUWER)
    CSCS card
    Key Responsibilities:

    Telehandler Operation:
    Operate a telescopic forklift (telehandler) to lift, move, and place materials.
    Transport loads across the site safely and efficiently.
    Conduct pre-use inspections and basic maintenance checks on equipment.
    Ensure loads are secure, balanced, and within safe working limits.
    Work in line with site risk assessments and lifting plans.
    Slinger / Signaller Duties:
    Attach and secure loads using appropriate lifting accessories (chains, slings, shackles).
    Direct crane or lifting machine operators using recognised hand and radio signals.
    Ensure lifting operations are carried out safely and in accordance with regulations.
    Communicate clearly with crane operators and site personnel.
    Assess load stability and weight before lifting.

    Strong understanding of lifting operations and safety procedures
    Good communication and teamwork skills
    High attention to detail and situational awareness
    Ability to interpret lifting plans and risk assessments
    Calm and decisive under pressure
