How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Quantity Surveyor

    An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established and growing housebuilder delivering high-quality residential developments across the North East of Scotland. This role offers the chance to become part of a collaborative commercial team working on a varied portfolio of housing projects from inception through to final account.

    As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in the commercial management of multiple developments, ensuring projects are delivered on budget while maintaining the highest standards of quality and profitability.

    The Role

    The successful Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the commercial performance of several live housing developments, working closely with the Commercial Manager, Technical, Construction and Buying teams.

    Key Responsibilities

    Manage the commercial delivery of residential developments from pre-construction through to final account.

    Prepare cost plans, budgets and financial forecasts.

    Procure subcontractors and suppliers, including tender analysis and negotiations.

    Prepare and administer subcontract documentation.

    Monitor project costs, valuations and cash flow.

    Assess subcontractor applications and prepare payment certificates.

    Identify, value and manage variations.

    Produce monthly cost reports and CVRs.

    Work closely with site teams to ensure projects remain commercially on track.

    Manage risk and identify value engineering opportunities.

    Ensure compliance with company procedures and commercial controls.

    Requirements

    Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the housebuilding or residential construction sector.

    HNC, HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.

    Strong knowledge of construction contracts and commercial procedures.

    Excellent negotiation and communication skills.

    Strong financial and analytical abilities.

    Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

    Proficient with Microsoft Office and commercial management software.

    Full UK Driving Licence.
