How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    SEND Teaching Assistant | Full Time | September Start | Gloucestershire | £14.25 per hour

    Are you looking for a rewarding Teaching Assistant job where you can make a real difference to young people's lives?

    Do you have the patience, resilience and positive attitude to support young people who need someone in their corner?

    Whether you've worked as a Youth Worker, Sports Coach, Support Worker, Care Worker, Teaching Assistant or simply have the right values and want a meaningful career, we'd love to hear from you.

    The role

    Axcis Education is recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant to support students aged 16 to 18 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs at a specialist further education campus in Gloucestershire.

    Starting in September, this is a full-time position working Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm, with the opportunity to become permanent after a successful 16-week settling-in period.

    Pay is £14.25 per hour.

    Every day is different. You'll build trusted relationships, encourage confidence, support emotional wellbeing and help students engage with learning and develop independence as they prepare for adulthood.

    Why this setting is different

    You'll be working on a stunning rural campus with outstanding specialist facilities, open green spaces and a calm learning environment that helps many young people feel settled, motivated and ready to learn.

    The college is nationally recognised for its specialist education and industry-standard facilities across areas including sport, animal care, agriculture and land-based education. Students benefit from practical, hands-on learning alongside high-quality academic teaching, helping them prepare for employment, apprenticeships and further study.

    The provider was rated Outstanding in every area during its most recent full Ofsted inspection, including:

    * Quality of education

    * Behaviour and attitudes

    * Personal development

    * Leadership and management

    * Provision for learners with high needs

    Inspectors praised the welcoming and inclusive culture, high expectations, excellent behaviour, strong safeguarding and the way students are supported to succeed both personally and academically.

    What you'll be doing

    * Supporting students with SEMH needs throughout the school day

    * Building positive, consistent relationships

    * Encouraging confidence, resilience and independence

    * Helping students regulate emotions and manage challenges

    * Supporting learning in and outside the classroom

    * Working closely with teachers and the wider support team

    * Being a positive role model every day

    We're looking for someone who:

    * Is calm, patient and compassionate

    * Enjoys working with young people

    * Can build trust and positive relationships

    * Stays positive when situations become challenging

    * Believes every young person deserves the opportunity to succeed

    * Brings enthusiasm, empathy and reliability

    Previous school experience is welcome but not essential.

    This role would particularly suit:

    * Teaching Assistants

    * Youth Workers

    * Sports Coaches

    * Support Workers

    * Care Workers

    * Residential Care Workers

    * Mental Health Support Workers

    * Graduates looking to start a career in education

    * Anyone passionate about supporting vulnerable young people

    If you're looking for a role where your personality, encouragement and consistency matter just as much as your experience, this could be the perfect opportunity.
