We're looking for an experienced Shift Mechanical Engineer to join a leading UK Facilities Management provider, supporting a prestigious Pharmaceutical contract in Cambridge. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a highly regulated, critical environment where reliability, compliance, and operational excellence are essential to site performance.
š§ What you'll be doing:
š ļø Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across mechanical and building services systems
š¬ļø Maintaining and repairing HVAC systems, pumps, pipework, pressurised systems, and associated mechanical plant
š Diagnosing faults and carrying out effective root cause analysis to minimise downtime
āļø Ensuring the safe and efficient operation of critical mechanical infrastructure
š Completing maintenance records, compliance documentation, and reports accurately
𦺠Working in line with GMP standards, health & safety regulations, and site procedures
š Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system reliability and energy efficiency
š¤ Working closely with clients, stakeholders, subcontractors, and the wider engineering team to maintain service excellence
š Supporting contractual KPIs and service delivery standards
ā Maintaining high standards of workmanship, professionalism, and customer service at all times
š·āāļø What we're looking for:
š¹ Mechanical Engineering qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, Apprenticeship, or equivalent)
š¹ Experience within Facilities Management, Pharmaceutical, Healthcare, Manufacturing, Life Sciences, or other regulated environments
š¹ Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, pumps, pipework, pressurised systems, and mechanical building services
š¹ Proven experience delivering both planned and reactive maintenance
š¹ Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving abilities
š¹ Strong understanding of health & safety and statutory compliance requirements
š¹ Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, critical environment
š¹ Good communication and stakeholder management skills
š¹ Proactive and customer-focused approach to service delivery
ā Desirable:
ā Experience working within GMP-controlled environments
ā Knowledge of pharmaceutical compliance requirements
ā Experience using CAFM systems
ā IOSH or equivalent health & safety qualification
ā Experience supporting energy efficiency and continuous improvement projects
ā Experience working on critical infrastructure and business-critical systems
