How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Quantity Surveyor
    Leeds
    6-Month Contract (Potential Extension)
Competitive Day Rate | PAYE/Umbrella Only - No CIS Available

Daniel Owen are currently recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor on behalf of a well-established principal contractor delivering high-value commercial and education fit-out projects across Leeds.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established team on an initial 6-month contract, with a strong possibility of extension for the right candidate.

    The Role

Working across two major live projects, both valued at over £10 million, you will support the commercial delivery of high-specification fit-out works within the commercial and education sectors.

The projects are delivered under Design & Build (D&B) contracts. Whilst the design is outsourced, the contractor retains full D&B responsibility, so previous experience working within this type of environment is essential.

You'll split your time between both project sites and the company's Leeds office, working closely with the commercial and operational teams to ensure successful project delivery.

    Responsibilities

Managing the commercial aspects of two live D&B fit-out projects
    Administering and managing NEC4 contracts
Cost management, valuations, variations and commercial reporting
Working closely with site teams to monitor project performance
Managing subcontractor accounts and commercial documentation
Using SitePro confidently and efficiently to manage project information
Supporting the successful commercial delivery of projects through to completion

    Requirements

Approximately 5-10 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor
Previous experience on commercial fit-out and/or high-specification education projects
Experience working on Design & Build contracts
Strong working knowledge of NEC4 contracts
Confident user of SitePro, with the ability to use the system efficiently
Excellent commercial awareness and communication skills
Full UK driving licence preferred due to travel between sites

    Important Payment Information

Please note: This assignment is strictly PAYE or Umbrella only.

CIS payment is NOT available for this role. Applicants must be happy to work either:

    PAYE through Daniel Owen, or
Via an approved Umbrella company.Unfortunately, candidates requiring CIS payment cannot be considered.

If you're an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking for your next contract with a reputable contractor on prestigious Leeds projects, we'd love to hear from you
