How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Senior Safety & Resilience Officer

    Location: Rugby, Warwickshire
    Contract: Temporary – 3 Months
    Hours: Full Time (37 hours per week)
    Pay: £20.66 per hour PAYE

    We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Safety & Resilience Officer to support Waste & Recycling Services on a 3-month temporary contract.
    This is a hands-on role where you'll ensure health and safety compliance across frontline waste operations, promoting a strong safety culture while supporting operational resilience.

    ### Key Responsibilities

    Ensure compliance with UK health and safety legislation, including COSHH and RIDDOR.

    Develop and review risk assessments, Safe Systems of Work, and operational procedures.

    Carry out depot, vehicle, and site inspections, audits, and ride-alongs with collection crews.

    Investigate accidents, incidents, complaints, and near misses, including CCTV reviews.

    Deliver toolbox talks and support staff training and competency.

    Monitor vehicle, equipment, contractor, and agency worker safety compliance.

    Support emergency planning, wellbeing initiatives, and continuous service improvement.

    Produce reports, analyse safety data, and provide practical recommendations.
    ### About You

    Essential:

    Experience in a health and safety role within a high-risk operational environment.
    Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation.
    Experience undertaking risk assessments and incident investigations.
    Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
    NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent). Desirable.
    Experience in waste management, environmental services, or local government.
    Experience using CCTV for investigations and compliance monitoring.
    Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, with the ability to travel across Rugby
