How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    NOC Specialist / Manchester

    Closing date 15th July 2026

Join our Network Operations Centre (NOC) and play a critical role in supporting the UK's smart metering network and critical national infrastructure. Working within a 24/7 operational environment, you'll lead incident response activities, investigate technical issues, and help ensure the resilience and performance of services relied upon by millions of consumers and industry participants across Great Britain. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with incident management, network operations and technical troubleshooting experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.

    About the DCC

We're powering Britain's smarter, greener future. Today. Tomorrow. Together.

Today, we're deeply invested in building a resilient, sustainable smart energy network that drives transformation. Our success is driven by curiosity, ambition, and tenacity.

Tomorrow, we see vast opportunities for growth and development, contributing to decarbonisation and the Net Zero mission. We'll continually develop Smart DCC, to fulfil our obligations to consumers, and achieve even more with our customers, partners, and each other. Join us and development opportunities range from talent programmes, academies and always-on learning to exposure to senior stakeholders and industry experts, contributing to complex projects and constant support to drive your own development.

Together, we embrace change, unite in our shared passions and support each other. Working as one team and across our industry, we rise to the challenge to shape Smart DCC, and the future.

A career at Smart DCC means being part of something bigger – a dynamic organisation that's not just helping transform energy but also shaping the future. We offer a unique, fulfilling environment where you can thrive today, develop for tomorrow, and achieve together.

How you will contribute to transforming the smart energy network and shaping the future

    ·      Monitor the DCC network, services and smart meter communications, proactively identifying and investigating issues to maintain service availability and performance.

    ·      Act as a key escalation point for incidents and major incidents, driving resolution activities and coordinating stakeholders during service disruptions.

    ·      Troubleshoot technical issues using monitoring and diagnostic tools, working closely with suppliers, customers and internal teams to restore service quickly and effectively.

    ·      Analyse operational data, trends and service metrics to identify emerging risks, recurring issues and opportunities for continuous improvement.

    ·      Support operational resilience through effective shift working, comprehensive handovers, accurate documentation and adherence to ITIL-aligned processes

    What you need to bring

    ·      Proven experience in a Network Operations Centre (NOC), telecommunications, IT infrastructure, or similar operational environment.

    ·      Strong incident management and incident response experience, including the ability to remain calm and effective during major incidents.

    ·      Technical troubleshooting skills with the ability to investigate complex operational and service issues.

    ·      Experience working with ITSM tools, ideally ServiceNow, alongside a solid understanding of service management processes.

    ·      Flexibility to work a 24/7 shift rota including day and night shifts, weekends and additional cover where operational requirements demand.

    Benefits

While our mission is ambitious, we also prioritise balance, offering flexibility and support to help you thrive both personally and professionally. At DCC we reward fairly and recognise fully because our continued success depends on our people.

We also offer competitive salaries with regular benchmarking, bonuses tied to personal and company performance, pension, generous leave allowance, private healthcare and a range of flexible benefits that you can tailor to your needs. In addition, this role attracts a shift allowance for participation in the 24/7 rota.
