How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    1st Step Solutions Ltd (M&E Recruitment Specialists)1st Step Solutions are supporting a leading M&E Contractor who have an opportunity for an Electrical Project Manager to be Project based in Bristol for the next 5-7 years.

    Required: Electrical Project Manager (Building Services)
    Employment: Permanent (full time)
    Location (Office & Project): Bristol
    Reporting to: Operations Manager
    Salary: up to £85k p/a

    Project Details
    Location: South Bristol (BS41 postcode)
    Duration: at least 5years on this phase of work, but potentially an additional 2-3years with further phases. To date the M&E Contractor (employer) has £100m M&E services/packages of work secured on this major project.
    Start date: ASAP
    Scheme: a £250m major new build project - offices, car park, education building, restaurant, energy centres etc

    Other roles for the employer & project: Mechanical Project Manager, Mechanical Site Managers & Supervisors, Electrical Site Managers & Supervisors, MEP Commercial Manager & MEP Quantity Surveyor.

    You’ll be joining a leading Mechanical & Electrical contractor based in Bristol and established for over 50 years providing Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health (MEP) Services in Healthcare, Defence, Hospitality, Education and Life Sciences. They employ over 200 staff and the business turnover £80m across the UK.

    Job Role Summary
    To be successful in this role, you will have a proven track record in building services (electrical) project management, particularly within the commercial sector or similar related projects with values up to £50m. Ideally, you will have experience of demonstrating responsibility for full Contract Management at this level.
     
    Responsibilities:
    Develop, control, and ensure delivery against the project budgets including profit, preliminaries and procurements.
    Implement detailed programmes and schedules which allow accurate monitoring and reporting of progress
    Secure and manage the appropriate resources to deliver the project / scheme effectively and efficiently in a professional manner to ensure successful delivery within project constraints.
    Implement and manage the development of the Project Quality Plan, Trade Quality Plans, and Defect rectification procedures
    Ensure there is a successful and smooth handover of the project, including support to customer/ end user throughout the handover process.
     
    'Ideal' Requirements:
    CSCS/SMSTS.
    Electrical Qualifications/an industry relevant City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 or above.
    HNC/HND in Building Services Engineering desirable.
    Experience of working at a senior level on M&E projects, as well as ideally having had responsibility for full contract management.
    Effective communicator at all levels.
    Capability to accept responsibilities and accomplish project objectives in a timely manner.
    Good computer skills especially with Microsoft Office.
    Be aware of health and safety requirements and the continual assessment/control of risk.
    Able to develop and maintain good working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
