How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Family Support Worker - Waking Nights

    Location: Weston-super-Mare, UK

    Hourly Pay: £15.26 - £16.04 (depending on experience and qualifications)
    Part-Time Role: 7 shifts over 4 weeks (13-hour shifts)
    Salary: £18,052 - £18,975 per year

We are looking for a compassionate, reliable, and dedicated Family Support Worker to join our friendly and supportive team on waking night shifts. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a rewarding environment where you can help create positive outcomes for children and young people while developing your career.

    What You'll Be Doing

    Providing overnight supervision and support to children and young people, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and comfort throughout the night.

    Implementing care plans and support strategies as directed by senior staff, maintaining stability and consistency.

    Responding promptly and appropriately to emergencies, incidents, or behavioural challenges that may arise during the night.

    Maintaining accurate records of activities, incidents, and observations in line with organisational policies and procedures.

    Building positive, trusting relationships with children and young people to support their development and wellbeing.

    Working collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals to deliver high-quality care and support.

    Adhering to safeguarding, health and safety, and confidentiality requirements at all times.

    What You'll Bring

    Experience working with children and young people, ideally within residential care, social care, or support environments.

    A relevant qualification such as a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, Health & Social Care, or equivalent (or a willingness to work towards one).

    Enhanced DBS clearance or willingness to undergo the relevant checks.

    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    The ability to remain calm, professional, and resilient in challenging situations.

    Strong organisational skills and attention to detail for accurate record-keeping.

    Flexibility to work waking night shifts, including weekends and bank holidays as required.

    Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.

    Empathy, compassion, and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for vulnerable children and young people.
